The atelier sets type by discipline, not decoration

01 / principles
i · ink first

The line draws hierarchy

Black rules divide the page before any fill. Double-rule headers act as magazine-section dividers; baseline register lines cross every surface so structure reads as printed, not boxed.

ii · electric restraint

One signal per spread

Vermilion marks the lead, cobalt carries action and focus, chartreuse highlights a selection. No accent ever fills a field — it is a register pin, an edge, a cross-mark, under five percent of the sheet.

iii · works on paper

A warm sheet, square

The ground is studio paper with a faint tooth, not glass. Corners stay square; only editions are circled. Gesture strokes break a panel edge to keep the human hand visible under the grid.

02 / the lead

The harbour vote returns to the front

The lead is set to five columns and ruled at the baseline. A contact-sheet plate anchors the upper-left measure; a single vermilion register diamond calls the cover line. Everything else is ink.

Captions, folios, and counts live in the margins in mono — quiet against the serif display, never competing with it.
