How Cairn reads
There is no grid of equal tiles. There is a line, and depth marked along it. Each stratum is a register; readings hang where they were taken; the deepest reading is read last. Importance is position on the column, never colour.
A continuous ruled axis runs the whole page, every reading pinned to its true depth.
One luminous line descends through every stratum — the cast, made visible.
Full-width bands, loud up top and dense below, read top to bottom.
Built for the quiet instruments
Sub-glacial lakes, drift buoys frozen into pack ice, ice-core rigs, under-ice hydrophone arrays. Cairn was made for the readings that arrive slowly and matter a great deal.
