01 — How a run reads

Slew, trace, lock — the same three lamps every time

No dashboard of unrelated widgets. A run moves through three states on one axis, and the colour only changes when the state does.

STATE 01

Slew & settle

The mount finds the field and the guiding stabilises. Everything is slate while the instrument is just measuring.

STATE 02

Trace live

The phosphor line tracks the transit in real time. Green means this is the measurement currently being acquired.

STATE 03

Lock the record

When a value crosses the threshold, an amber pin holds the record open until an analyst commits the decision.

One trace, one pin. Never a rainbow.

Structure is carried by slate opacity — bars, baselines, grid. Colour is rationed: a single green trace for the live fit, a single amber ring on the only point past the alert band.

  • Phosphor green draws the active comparison and nothing else.
  • Sodium amber marks thresholds, confidence checks, and the decisions a person must own.
  • Tabular mono numerals so every column of figures lines up to the digit.
