Sumi Rail

Leave the space
on purpose.

An ink-and-paper interface language: structure carried by the margin and a single seal, not by a frame around everything.

See how it reads
三つ — Three devices
The idea

One ink, three devices

The rail

A vertical reading rail names each region in the margin — navigation as architecture, set upright like a column of brushed characters.

The seal

One vermilion square, pressed at a slight tilt, marks the single thing that earns ritual attention. It is never spent on decoration.

The trailing rule

A hairline extends far past each heading, anchoring it to the grid and holding the quiet tension of an editorial spread.

In use

A studio of potters keeps its days in it

Each firing, each reserved tea room, each piece on the drying shelf is one sheet of paper. Status is stamped, not flooded with colour — so a glance finds the one thing that changed.

The rail down the side of every screen tells you where you are without a single boxed-in menu.

余白 — On emptiness
The empty space is not nothing. It is where the eye rests, and where the next mark gets its meaning.
— the working principle of ma, carried into every screen
