Noge 3-chome · open from seven
Kissaten
A service counter for household androids, kept as a coffee shop. Eleven stools, two bays, one rule across the room.
Eleven stools / two bays / forty-seven cups todayScene 02 · the counter
One rule divides the room.
Above the counter the room is paper: warm, open, quiet enough to read in. Below it the machine keeps its panes, its rows and its low tea-coloured light, and it never grows brighter than the room above.
Scene 03 · low furniture
The terminal is furniture.
The command pane sits under the counter the way a shelf does. It answers in a small monospace voice, it holds the drip at ninety-two degrees, and it stops talking once the cup is poured.
I stopped the steam line halfway. The pressure dropped while I was pouring.
Give the boiler four minutes, then ask me again. The order is still on the paper.
I can hear the elbow servo on the far stool. It clicks on the return stroke.
Nothing here needs today. Warm the room first and listen again.
Scene 04 · the apology
It says sorry, then says what to do.
Every diagnostic names what happened, what the counter is doing about it, and one thing you might try. The status mark is a nine-pixel square that breathes until the answer arrives.
Scene 05 · the hour shift
18:40
The lamp takes over from the window.
At dusk the amber comes on and the whole room warms one step. It is the only moment this language raises its voice, and it lasts about four minutes.
Scene 06 · closing
Shutter down. The lamp goes off last.
Twelve lines written, forty-seven cups poured, one elbow servo left for warmer weather. The ticket is sealed to the paper and the room goes back to being a room.
