composition
Use a spacious editorial product-studio composition: a large hero artifact occupies one side, with compact instrument panels clustered by task and one intentional overlap that breaks the column rhythm.
density

Balanced-low density with tight control clusters inside broad whitespace bands; avoid equal rows of undifferentiated cards.

hierarchy
Hierarchy comes from scale, proximity, translucent lens placement, and specimen chips; the primary product preview receives the strongest color field while secondary tools remain nearly white.
signature patterns
Prismatic lens underlays appear as oversized blurred radial gradients behind primary artifacts and selected controls, changing size with viewport and state.Porcelain slab panels use backdrop-filter blur, inset white highlights, 20px radii, and cool 1px seams to create material depth without dotted texture.Color-theory specimen chips are small rounded swatches paired with labels and numeric values, used as semantic controls rather than decoration.Selection states use expanding circular halo rings and soft filled pills instead of left rails, stripes, square-grid highlights, or rainbow borders.The main artifact overlaps a control surface by 24 to 48px so the screen has one memorable spatial relationship rather than scattered motifs.
layout
breakpoints

mobile < 640px, tablet 640px-1023px, desktop >= 1024px

grid
Asymmetric 12-column desktop field with a dominant 7-column product artifact and 5-column instrument stack; tablet collapses to two bands and mobile becomes a single product-first flow.
whitespace

Use broad 48px to 96px whitespace bands around major zones and tight 8px to 12px gaps only inside related control groups.

guidance
do
  • Use neutral porcelain surfaces as the default base and reserve color for product meaning, state, or hierarchy.
  • Create surface interest through translucent material depth, overlap, lens blur, typography, and product-specific controls.
  • Keep radius geometry committed to 20px slabs and smaller 10px controls so softness feels authored.
  • Make each screen a specific product workflow with real labels, values, states, and constraints.
avoid
  • Do not use square grids, dotted notebook texture as a default, or repeated point fields.
  • Do not add decorative side rails, left stripes, or arbitrary confetti to cards, buttons, rows, or panels.
  • Do not turn the palette into a rainbow; use a restrained prism of colors with explicit structural roles.
  • Do not present a generic dashboard or component catalog as the primary embodiment.

# Porcelain Prism Product Studio

## Philosophy

A clean, premium product-interface language where quiet porcelain surfaces are organized by translucent color-theory lenses that carry hierarchy, state, and product meaning without becoming rainbow garnish.

### Values

- product-first calm
- structural color placement
- material depth without clutter
- typographic precision
- spacious focus

### Anti-Values

- dotted or square-grid default backgrounds
- decorative side rails or garnish accents
- generic admin dashboards
- rainbow palettes used to prove colorfulness

### Visual Character

- Use a white-to-porcelain radial page background with large blurred translucent color lenses anchored behind primary artifacts, never as repeated dots or grid cells.
- Build panels as frosted porcelain slabs with 20px committed radii, 1px cool borders, and inset white highlights instead of heavy SaaS shadows.
- Place color as structural islands: selection halos, pill meters, specimen chips, and soft circular underlays that explain hierarchy and state.
- Use oversized tight-tracked display headings paired with compact grotesk body text, generous line-height, and wide whitespace bands between product zones.
- Let the main product artifact break the column rhythm with an overlapping preview card and floating lens controls, avoiding equal card rows.

## shadcn/ui Usage

When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.

DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019e4649-68ef-7f41-9349-ea683725e255/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.

The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.

Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.

# Porcelain Prism Product Studio shadcn/ui Components

Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`

## Intent

A clean, premium product-interface language where quiet porcelain surfaces are organized by translucent color-theory lenses that carry hierarchy, state, and product meaning without becoming rainbow garnish.

## Required primitives

- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

  "warning": "#C9821D"
}

Typography:

## Visual character to preserve

- Use a white-to-porcelain radial page background with large blurred translucent color lenses anchored behind primary artifacts, never as repeated dots or grid cells.
- Build panels as frosted porcelain slabs with 20px committed radii, 1px cool borders, and inset white highlights instead of heavy SaaS shadows.
- Place color as structural islands: selection halos, pill meters, specimen chips, and soft circular underlays that explain hierarchy and state.
- Use oversized tight-tracked display headings paired with compact grotesk body text, generous line-height, and wide whitespace bands between product zones.
- Let the main product artifact break the column rhythm with an overlapping preview card and floating lens controls, avoiding equal card rows.

## ShadSync visual profile

{
  "family": "system",
  "material": "flat",
  "contour": "pebble",
  "border": "solid",
  "underlay": true,
  "grain": true,
  "stickerBadges": false,

  "accents": [

    "muted"
  ]
}

## Signature component recipes

### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.

### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.

### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.

### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.

### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.

## Preview shots

- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.

## Implementation contract

- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/porcelain-prism-product-studio/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use neutral porcelain surfaces as the default base and reserve color for product meaning, state, or hierarchy.; Create surface interest through translucent material depth, overlap, lens blur, typography, and product-specific controls.; Keep radius geometry committed to 20px slabs and smaller 10px controls so softness feels authored.; Make each screen a specific product workflow with real labels, values, states, and constraints.
- Do not: Do not use square grids, dotted notebook texture as a default, or repeated point fields.; Do not add decorative side rails, left stripes, or arbitrary confetti to cards, buttons, rows, or panels.; Do not turn the palette into a rainbow; use a restrained prism of colors with explicit structural roles.; Do not present a generic dashboard or component catalog as the primary embodiment.

## Copy-paste component example

This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
