rules
Use an asymmetric product workspace: a large route map or decision plane owns most of the screen, while compact context modules cluster by proximity around the current workflow. Include one deliberate grid break via an overlapping action capsule or floating route inspector.
Balanced premium density with generous 32-64px macro gaps and tight 6-12px clusters inside controls and status groups.
Hierarchy is carried by route membership first, then type scale. Primary workflows use cobalt route capsules and large white panels; priority uses amber filled fields; risk uses coral rings; completed or healthy states use green completion tokens.
layout
Desktop 1200px and up uses nav, route plane, and inspector; tablet stacks inspector below the route plane; mobile collapses navigation into top route chips and single-column cards.
CSS grid with 12 abstract columns for placement only; no visible square grid texture or repeated background grid is allowed. The desktop shell uses a 280px navigation/context column plus a flexible route plane and inspector.
Large 48-64px outer spacing frames the product, while related labels, route chips, and fields use 6-12px proximity to make relationships obvious.
guidance
- Use color to encode product area, workflow route, priority, risk, or interaction state with a clear legend.
- Keep the base white or warm neutral and let one active route color dominate each scene.
- Use route capsules, halos, rings, and selected fields consistently across controls and data.
- Make specific product scenes where labels and states prove the color architecture.
- Do not use rainbow palettes, arbitrary color variety, confetti, startup blobs, or neon cyberpunk effects.
- Do not put decorative left rails, side stripes, or stripe accents on cards, buttons, rows, or panels.
- Do not use square-grid backgrounds, generic dashboards, equal card rows, or component-catalog scenes.
- Do not let semantic status colors replace the stronger structural route system.

# Chromatic Route System ## Philosophy Chromatic Route System treats color as a compact routing layer for premium product software: a mostly white interface where a few memorable hues define domain, priority, risk, and next action instead of decorating generic cards. ### Values - Color earns its place by naming product structure, ownership, and state. - White space and neutral surfaces keep the product calm, Apple-like, and focused. - Interaction states preserve the same route logic so workflows remain legible under pressure. - A small palette is more memorable than a rainbow because each hue has a job. ### Anti-Values - Colorful garnish, confetti, rainbow navigation, or chromatic noise without information value. - Generic admin dashboards, card stripe accents, left rails, square-grid backgrounds, and template SaaS layouts. - Mixed arbitrary radii or shadows that make the system feel assembled from defaults. ### Visual Character - White and warm-neutral canvases use large asymmetric CSS grid regions with one oversized workflow plane and several smaller decision artifacts, never equal three-card rows. - Color appears as filled route capsules, soft destination halos, status rings, and selected-tab fields rather than decorative side rails or stripes on cards. - Panels use a committed 24px geometry with 1px warm gray borders, low blurred shadows, and inset tinted planes reserved for active workflow states. - Typography pairs Onest for calm product headings with Source Sans 3 for dense readable body copy and IBM Plex Mono for route codes, giving hierarchy more than size changes. - Micro-interactions slide elements along a route axis with colored focus rings and destination glow changes instead of generic opacity fades. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 2px - **Character**: warm gray structural borders; colored borders only for selected controls, focus rings, and status rings - **Default Width**: 1px - **Style**: solid ### Colors | Name | Value | |------|-------| | accent | `#F6C945` | | background | `#FAFAF7` | | border | `#DFE2E7` | | error | `#E5484D` | | info | `#245CFF` | | muted | `#6C7280` | | primary | `#245CFF` | | secondary | `#13A56F` | | success | `#13A56F` | | surface | `#FFFFFF` | | text | `#171A20` | | warning | `#F2A900` | ### Motion - **Duration**: 180ms - **Easing**: cubic-bezier(0.2, 0.8, 0.2, 1) - **Philosophy**: motion follows a route axis: selection slides toward the active destination while halos intensify to confirm information architecture ### Radii - **Full**: 9999px - **Lg**: 24px - **Md**: 16px - **None**: 0 - **Sm**: 0 ### Shadows - **Lg**: 0 28px 70px rgba(23,26,32,0.12) - **Md**: 0 16px 40px rgba(23,26,32,0.08) - **Sm**: 0 1px 2px rgba(23,26,32,0.06) ### Spacing - **Base**: 8px - **Scale**: [4,8,12,16,24,32,48,64] ### Surfaces - **Bg Pattern**: no visible grid; optional very soft radial color washes behind active workflow destinations - **Card Style**: 24px radius white panels with warm-gray 1px borders, soft elevation, and interior route capsules for meaning - **Treatment**: matte white product surfaces over a warm neutral shell; color is used as semantic route fill, halo, or state plane only ### Typography - **Base Size**: 16px - **Body Font**: Source Sans 3 - **Google Fonts Url**: https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=IBM+Plex+Mono:wght@500;600&family=Onest:wght@500;600;700;800&family=Source+Sans+3:wght@400;500;600;700&display=swap - **Heading Font**: Onest - **Letter Spacing**: -0.02em - **Line Height**: 1.5 - **Mono Font**: IBM Plex Mono - **Scale Ratio**: 1.22 ## Rules ### Composition Use an asymmetric product workspace: a large route map or decision plane owns most of the screen, while compact context modules cluster by proximity around the current workflow. # Chromatic Route System
## Overview
Chromatic Route System treats color as a compact routing layer for premium product software: a mostly white interface where a few memorable hues define domain, priority, risk, and next action instead of decorating generic cards.
### Values
- Color earns its place by naming product structure, ownership, and state.
- White space and neutral surfaces keep the product calm, Apple-like, and focused.
- Interaction states preserve the same route logic so workflows remain legible under pressure.
- A small palette is more memorable than a rainbow because each hue has a job.
### Anti-Values
- Colorful garnish, confetti, rainbow navigation, or chromatic noise without information value.
- Generic admin dashboards, card stripe accents, left rails, square-grid backgrounds, and template SaaS layouts.
- Mixed arbitrary radii or shadows that make the system feel assembled from defaults.
### Visual Character
- White and warm-neutral canvases use large asymmetric CSS grid regions with one oversized workflow plane and several smaller decision artifacts, never equal three-card rows.
- Color appears as filled route capsules, soft destination halos, status rings, and selected-tab fields rather than decorative side rails or stripes on cards.
- Panels use a committed 24px geometry with 1px warm gray borders, low blurred shadows, and inset tinted planes reserved for active workflow states.
- Typography pairs Onest for calm product headings with Source Sans 3 for dense readable body copy and IBM Plex Mono for route codes, giving hierarchy more than size changes.
- Micro-interactions slide elements along a route axis with colored focus rings and destination glow changes instead of generic opacity fades.
## Colors

| muted | `#6C7280` |
| primary | `#245CFF` |
| secondary | `#13A56F` |
| success | `#13A56F` |
| surface | `#FFFFFF` |

## Components
### Composition
Use an asymmetric product workspace: a large route map or decision plane owns most of the screen, while compact context modules cluster by proximity around the current workflow. Include one deliberate grid break via an overlapping action capsule or floating route inspector.
### Density
Balanced premium density with generous 32-64px macro gaps and tight 6-12px clusters inside controls and status groups.
### Hierarchy
Hierarchy is carried by route membership first, then type scale. Primary workflows use cobalt route capsules and large white panels; priority uses amber filled fields; risk uses coral rings; completed or healthy states use green completion tokens.
### Signature Patterns
- Route capsules are filled rounded pills containing a short mono code and label; they appear in navigation, records, buttons, and table cells to show product area.
- Destination halos are low-opacity radial backgrounds positioned behind the active workflow plane and change hue only when the information route changes.
- Status rings use 2px circular or pill outlines around metrics and avatars to show risk or readiness without adding side stripes to cards.
- Selected tabs become shallow filled fields with a tiny route dot and sliding underline capsule, keeping color tied to navigation structure.
- Priority fields use restrained amber blocks inside forms and tables, not banners, so urgency is embedded where decisions are made.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019e464b-0c6d-72c3-b9da-ae9e75171a16/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Use color to encode product area, workflow route, priority, risk, or interaction state with a clear legend.
- Do Keep the base white or warm neutral and let one active route color dominate each scene.
- Do Use route capsules, halos, rings, and selected fields consistently across controls and data.
- Do Make specific product scenes where labels and states prove the color architecture.
- Don't Do not use rainbow palettes, arbitrary color variety, confetti, startup blobs, or neon cyberpunk effects.
- Don't Do not put decorative left rails, side stripes, or stripe accents on cards, buttons, rows, or panels.
- Don't Do not use square-grid backgrounds, generic dashboards, equal card rows, or component-catalog scenes.
- Don't Do not let semantic status colors replace the stronger structural route system.

# Chromatic Route System shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019e464b-0c6d-72c3-b9da-ae9e75171a16`
Slug: `chromatic-route-system`
## Intent
Chromatic Route System treats color as a compact routing layer for premium product software: a mostly white interface where a few memorable hues define domain, priority, risk, and next action instead of decorating generic cards.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
## Token cues
Colors:
{
"accent": "#F6C945",
"background": "#FAFAF7",
"border": "#DFE2E7",
"error": "#E5484D",
"info": "#245CFF",
"muted": "#6C7280",
"primary": "#245CFF",
"secondary": "#13A56F",
"success": "#13A56F",
"surface": "#FFFFFF",
"text": "#171A20",
"warning": "#F2A900"
}
Typography:
{
"base_size": "16px",
"body_font": "Source Sans 3",
"google_fonts_url": "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=IBM+Plex+Mono:wght@500;600&family=Onest:wght@500;600;700;800&family=Source+Sans+3:wght@400;500;600;700&display=swap",
"heading_font": "Onest",
"letter_spacing": "-0.02em",
"line_height": 1.5,
"mono_font": "IBM Plex Mono",
"scale_ratio": 1.22
}
## Visual character to preserve
- White and warm-neutral canvases use large asymmetric CSS grid regions with one oversized workflow plane and several smaller decision artifacts, never equal three-card rows.
- Color appears as filled route capsules, soft destination halos, status rings, and selected-tab fields rather than decorative side rails or stripes on cards.
- Panels use a committed 24px geometry with 1px warm gray borders, low blurred shadows, and inset tinted planes reserved for active workflow states.
- Typography pairs Onest for calm product headings with Source Sans 3 for dense readable body copy and IBM Plex Mono for route codes, giving hierarchy more than size changes.
- Micro-interactions slide elements along a route axis with colored focus rings and destination glow changes instead of generic opacity fades.
## ShadSync visual profile

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/chromatic-route-system/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use color to encode product area, workflow route, priority, risk, or interaction state with a clear legend.; Keep the base white or warm neutral and let one active route color dominate each scene.; Use route capsules, halos, rings, and selected fields consistently across controls and data.; Make specific product scenes where labels and states prove the color architecture.
- Do not: Do not use rainbow palettes, arbitrary color variety, confetti, startup blobs, or neon cyberpunk effects.; Do not put decorative left rails, side stripes, or stripe accents on cards, buttons, rows, or panels.; Do not use square-grid backgrounds, generic dashboards, equal card rows, or component-catalog scenes.; Do not let semantic status colors replace the stronger structural route system.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
