composition
Compose screens as fashion production boards: one dominant garment or textile inspection field, a narrow terminal rail, and compact swatch matrices aligned to an 8px bitmap weave.
density

High-density information is acceptable when grouped into woven blocks with strong gaps between garment, rail, and swatch regions.

hierarchy
Large serif specimen names establish editorial drama, while mono stitch labels and condensed numeric tables create the operational hierarchy; accent color appears only for selected faults and decisive calls.
signature patterns
Woven dither underlay: stack fine and coarse repeating-linear-gradients so panels look like monochrome jacquard cloth rather than flat app cards.Registration-error focus: active buttons, selected rows, and critical badges receive paired cyan and magenta offset shadows instead of generic outlines.Pixel silhouette specimen: hero imagery is a CSS grid of rectangular cells with stepped shoulders and hem, keeping fashion references abstract and interface-native.Stitch barcode dividers: section breaks use short repeating black ticks and tiny mono coordinates to replace conventional horizontal rules.
layout
breakpoints

mobile 375px, tablet 768px, desktop 1200px; rail moves below specimen at tablet and swatches stack on mobile.

grid

A 12-column desktop grid collapses to 6 columns on tablet and 1 column on mobile, all snapped to 8px spacing with dither panels spanning full rows when needed.

whitespace

Use severe macro gaps of 48px or 64px between the garment field and operational panels, with 4px to 8px gaps inside stitch groups.

guidance
do
  • Let monochrome woven texture carry most of the identity before adding any color.
  • Use cyan and magenta together as a misregistration pair for focus, selection, and faults.
  • Make every decorative pixel pattern double as a grid, divider, selection field, or status surface.
  • Favor one dominant couture production scene over a catalog of unrelated components.
avoid
  • Do not use neon gradients, glass blur, or arcade rainbow palettes.
  • Do not round every card or soften the textile-grid geometry into generic SaaS.
  • Do not add glitch fragments unless they mark interaction state, error state, or editorial emphasis.
  • Do not mix multiple pixel scales without anchoring them to the 8px weave.

# Glitch Dither Couture

## Philosophy

A restrained couture-control language where monochrome textile grids behave like low-resolution bitmaps, then fracture into rare magenta and cyan registration errors for high-signal moments.

### Values

- woven restraint before decoration
- pixel logic expressed as product hierarchy
- fashion-atelier precision with visible digital seams
- rare chromatic errors that mark decisions rather than moods

### Anti-Values

- rainbow retro arcade nostalgia
- generic cyber-glow dashboards
- soft card stacks with no textile structure
- decorative glitches that do not organize content

### Visual Character

- Use layered repeating-linear-gradient backgrounds at 1px, 4px, and 12px intervals to create woven monochrome dithering behind every major surface.
- Keep primary containers square or minimally clipped with 1px black hairlines and 4px double-offset cyan/magenta error shadows only on selected active objects.
- Render hero figures and status marks as blocky pixel silhouettes using CSS grid cells, hard-edged clip-path steps, and image-rendering pixelated behavior.
- Build hierarchy with dense mono labels, tall condensed serif headlines, and barcode-like stitch rules rather than shadows or rounded SaaS cards.

## shadcn/ui Usage

When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.

DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019e66f8-1464-7251-bda9-e71393f2ddef/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.

The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.

Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.

# Glitch Dither Couture shadcn/ui Components

Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019e66f8-1464-7251-bda9-e71393f2ddef`
Slug: `glitch-dither-couture`

## Intent

A restrained couture-control language where monochrome textile grids behave like low-resolution bitmaps, then fracture into rare magenta and cyan registration errors for high-signal moments.

## Required primitives

- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Token cues

  "surface": "#E8E2D5",
  "text": "#11100E",
  "warning": "#C9A227"
}

Typography:

{
  "base_size": "16px",
  "body_font": "IBM Plex Sans Condensed",
  "google_fonts_url": "https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Bodoni+Moda:opsz,wght@6..96,600;6..96,800&family=Fragment+Mono:ital@0;1&family=IBM+Plex+Sans+Condensed:wght@400;500;600;700&display=swap",

## Visual character to preserve

- Use layered repeating-linear-gradient backgrounds at 1px, 4px, and 12px intervals to create woven monochrome dithering behind every major surface.
- Keep primary containers square or minimally clipped with 1px black hairlines and 4px double-offset cyan/magenta error shadows only on selected active objects.
- Render hero figures and status marks as blocky pixel silhouettes using CSS grid cells, hard-edged clip-path steps, and image-rendering pixelated behavior.
- Build hierarchy with dense mono labels, tall condensed serif headlines, and barcode-like stitch rules rather than shadows or rounded SaaS cards.

## ShadSync visual profile

{
  "family": "editorial",
  "material": "flat",
  "contour": "default",
  "border": "solid",
  "underlay": true,
  "grain": false,
  "stickerBadges": true,

  "density": "dense",
  "accents": [
    "primary",
    "accent",
    "secondary",
    "muted"
  ]
}

## Signature component recipes

### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.

### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.

### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.

### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.

### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.

## Preview shots

- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.

## Implementation contract

- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/glitch-dither-couture/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Let monochrome woven texture carry most of the identity before adding any color.; Use cyan and magenta together as a misregistration pair for focus, selection, and faults.; Make every decorative pixel pattern double as a grid, divider, selection field, or status surface.; Favor one dominant couture production scene over a catalog of unrelated components.
- Do not: Do not use neon gradients, glass blur, or arcade rainbow palettes.; Do not round every card or soften the textile-grid geometry into generic SaaS.; Do not add glitch fragments unless they mark interaction state, error state, or editorial emphasis.; Do not mix multiple pixel scales without anchoring them to the 8px weave.

## Copy-paste component example

This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
