rules
Compose screens as a product workshop: a heavy left block spine, a central isometric build board, and right-side stacked control bricks aligned to an 8px bitmap grid.
Moderately dense, with compact controls grouped into tactile clusters and larger breathing zones around the main build board.
Headlines use chunky Space Grotesk slabs, operational labels use IBM Plex Mono capsules, and body copy stays high-legibility with strong contrast and short line lengths.
layout
desktop >= 1180px uses three architectural zones; tablet 720-1179px stacks command rail over board; mobile < 720px becomes a single-column block itinerary.
An 8px base grid with 16px visible construction cells, a 12-column desktop shell, and nested 4-column block clusters for controls.
Whitespace is treated as baseplate space: broad matte gutters around hero modules, tight 8px joins inside component clusters, and 24px minimum between unrelated blocks.
guidance
- Use hard block shadows and clipped stepped corners consistently across panels and controls.
- Keep backgrounds warm and matte, spending bright colors only on meaningful modules or live states.
- Represent data as tiles, cube stacks, inventory rows, or build-board coordinates.
- Make responsive layouts re-stack like physical blocks rather than merely shrinking cards.
- Do not use neon arcade palettes, glossy gradients, or CRT scanlines as the main identity.
- Do not scatter pixel icons as decoration without a grid role or product state.
- Do not mix arbitrary large radii with square block geometry.
- Do not let status colors replace typographic and spatial hierarchy.

# Voxel Product Architecture ## Philosophy Voxel Product Architecture turns pixel-art memory into useful product space: matte modular blocks, clay-neutral slabs, and toy-bright function cubes create interfaces that feel assembled at object scale rather than drawn on glass. ### Values - object-scale digital tactility - legible modular construction - playful operational clarity - limited-palette discipline - responsive block architecture ### Anti-Values - nostalgic game pastiche without product logic - generic rounded SaaS cards with decorative pixels - glossy neon cyber styling - busy sprite clutter that weakens hierarchy ### Visual Character - Use square and eight-pixel stepped silhouettes for cards, buttons, nav rails, and chart cells so every surface reads as a snapped-together voxel block. - Layer clay-neutral matte panels with hard offset block shadows measured in 4px increments, avoiding blur except for a tiny ambient contact shadow. - Build hero and data areas from visible bitmap grids, extruded cube cells, and isometric stair-step dividers rather than fluid gradients or soft waves. - Reserve toy-bright red, blue, yellow, and mint accents for semantic product modules, status cubes, focus rings, and small UI plugs on mostly warm neutral architecture. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 4px - **Character**: dark Lego-manual outlines plus occasional double pixel seams - **Default Width**: 2px - **Style**: solid ### Colors | Name | Value | |------|-------| | accent | `#F4C542` | | background | `#E8D8C5` | | border | `#3A2A22` | | error | `#D94B3D` | | info | `#2C9AB7` | | muted | `#8E7665` | | primary | `#2D6CDF` | | secondary | `#C96B3C` | | success | `#37A875` | | surface | `#F5EADB` | | text | `#2B211B` | | warning | `#E6A72A` | ### Motion - **Duration**: 140ms - **Easing**: steps(2, end) - **Philosophy**: interactions snap by one 4px block with stepped shadows, never dissolve ### Radii - **Full**: 9999px - **Lg**: 8px - **Md**: 4px - **None**: 0px - **Sm**: 2px ### Shadows - **Lg**: 12px 12px 0 #3A2A22, 0 18px 40px rgba(43,33,27,0.12) - **Md**: 8px 8px 0 #3A2A22 - **Sm**: 4px 4px 0 #3A2A22 ### Spacing - **Base**: 8px - **Scale**: [4,8,12,16,24,32,48,64,96] ### Surfaces - **Bg Pattern**: 16px bitmap construction grid with sparse colored voxel pins - **Card Style**: flat block panels with dark 2px outlines and stepped corner notches - **Treatment**: matte clay paper with subtle pixel-grid speckle ### Typography - **Base Size**: 16px - **Body Font**: Atkinson Hyperlegible - **Google Fonts Url**: https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Atkinson+Hyperlegible:wght@400;700&family=IBM+Plex+Mono:wght@500;700&family=Space+Grotesk:wght@500;700&display=swap - **Heading Font**: Space Grotesk - **Letter Spacing**: -0.01em - **Line Height**: 1.48 - **Mono Font**: IBM Plex Mono - **Scale Ratio**: 1.22 ## Rules ### Composition Compose screens as a product workshop: a heavy left block spine, a central isometric build board, and right-side stacked control bricks aligned to an 8px bitmap grid. ### Density Moderately dense, with compact controls grouped into tactile clusters and larger breathing zones around the main build board. ### Hierarchy Headlines use chunky Space Grotesk slabs, operational labels use IBM Plex Mono capsules, and body copy stays high-legibility with strong contrast and short line lengths. ### Signature Patterns - Stepped-corner block cards use CSS clip-path polygons and 2px outlines to convert ordinary panels into pixel-cut product modules. - Voxel status cubes are built with layered pseudo-elements and offset shadows so badges, meters, and navigation markers appear physically extruded. - Bitmap seam dividers use repeating-linear-gradient grids and checker dither masks to separate product zones without generic lines. - Interactive controls move by translate(4px,4px) and collapse their hard shadow on press, making state changes feel like pressing a toy block into a baseplate. ## Layout ### Breakpoints desktop >= 1180px uses three architectural zones; # Voxel Product Architecture
## Overview
Voxel Product Architecture turns pixel-art memory into useful product space: matte modular blocks, clay-neutral slabs, and toy-bright function cubes create interfaces that feel assembled at object scale rather than drawn on glass.
### Values
- object-scale digital tactility
- legible modular construction
- playful operational clarity
- limited-palette discipline
- responsive block architecture
### Anti-Values
- nostalgic game pastiche without product logic
- generic rounded SaaS cards with decorative pixels
- glossy neon cyber styling
- busy sprite clutter that weakens hierarchy
### Visual Character
- Use square and eight-pixel stepped silhouettes for cards, buttons, nav rails, and chart cells so every surface reads as a snapped-together voxel block.
- Layer clay-neutral matte panels with hard offset block shadows measured in 4px increments, avoiding blur except for a tiny ambient contact shadow.
- Build hero and data areas from visible bitmap grids, extruded cube cells, and isometric stair-step dividers rather than fluid gradients or soft waves.
- Reserve toy-bright red, blue, yellow, and mint accents for semantic product modules, status cubes, focus rings, and small UI plugs on mostly warm neutral architecture.
## Colors
Use the YAML color tokens as the normative palette. The prose below names the roles agents should preserve when generating UI.

## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019e6995-df38-7653-886a-026755b1ef2c/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Use hard block shadows and clipped stepped corners consistently across panels and controls.
- Do Keep backgrounds warm and matte, spending bright colors only on meaningful modules or live states.
- Do Represent data as tiles, cube stacks, inventory rows, or build-board coordinates.
- Do Make responsive layouts re-stack like physical blocks rather than merely shrinking cards.
- Don't Do not use neon arcade palettes, glossy gradients, or CRT scanlines as the main identity.
- Don't Do not scatter pixel icons as decoration without a grid role or product state.
- Don't Do not mix arbitrary large radii with square block geometry.
- Don't Do not let status colors replace typographic and spatial hierarchy.

# Voxel Product Architecture shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019e6995-df38-7653-886a-026755b1ef2c`
Slug: `voxel-product-architecture`
## Intent
Voxel Product Architecture turns pixel-art memory into useful product space: matte modular blocks, clay-neutral slabs, and toy-bright function cubes create interfaces that feel assembled at object scale rather than drawn on glass.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- Use square and eight-pixel stepped silhouettes for cards, buttons, nav rails, and chart cells so every surface reads as a snapped-together voxel block.
- Layer clay-neutral matte panels with hard offset block shadows measured in 4px increments, avoiding blur except for a tiny ambient contact shadow.
- Build hero and data areas from visible bitmap grids, extruded cube cells, and isometric stair-step dividers rather than fluid gradients or soft waves.
- Reserve toy-bright red, blue, yellow, and mint accents for semantic product modules, status cubes, focus rings, and small UI plugs on mostly warm neutral architecture.

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/voxel-product-architecture/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use hard block shadows and clipped stepped corners consistently across panels and controls.; Keep backgrounds warm and matte, spending bright colors only on meaningful modules or live states.; Represent data as tiles, cube stacks, inventory rows, or build-board coordinates.; Make responsive layouts re-stack like physical blocks rather than merely shrinking cards.
- Do not: Do not use neon arcade palettes, glossy gradients, or CRT scanlines as the main identity.; Do not scatter pixel icons as decoration without a grid role or product state.; Do not mix arbitrary large radii with square block geometry.; Do not let status colors replace typographic and spatial hierarchy.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
