rules
Compose like an OVA title card crossed with a console layout: broad white voids, offset floating panes, one cropped figure or landscape frame, and thin surveillance overlays.
Low density overall with compact data islands; every technical cluster must be surrounded by calm negative space.
Use compressed sans headings for episode-card statements, monospace for operational truth, and quiet sans body copy inside measured terminal panes.
layout
mobile <= 640px, tablet 641px-1024px, desktop >= 1025px
A 12-column desktop field with terminal panes spanning irregular 3, 5, and 7 column widths; mobile collapses into stacked console cards.
Whitespace is dominant and emotional: 32-96px margins, isolated clusters, and deliberate unused quadrants.
guidance
- Keep most surfaces white or near-white and let black rules define the system.
- Use lavender and cyan as atmosphere behind glass, not as loud brand blocks.
- Align labels, timestamps, and file paths to optical monospace tab stops.
- Crop manga-like linework asymmetrically so it feels like an OVA title-card fragment.
- Keep display headlines compressed, uppercase, and tightly tracked so they read like OVA title cards.
- Use double black rules and cyan selection bands to turn data panes into the layout grid.
- Do not use neon gradients, dense holographic clutter, or gamer cyberpunk glow.
- Do not round terminal panes into friendly cards; keep squared hardware edges.
- Do not fill empty margins with decorative icons; absence is part of the surveillance mood.
- Do not let anime references become character art wallpaper without interface function.
- Do not mix soft rounded radii into panes; square hardware geometry is the core shape language.
- Do not use equal-card catalog sections; show a plausible console scene with one dominant manga crop.

# Vapor Terminal OVA Console ## Philosophy A clean existential interface language for quiet network-dawn products, merging white manga negative space, translucent command-line panes, and soft lavender-cyan OVA atmosphere into polished systems that feel monitored but humane. ### Values - white space as emotional pressure - terminal structure over decorative cyberpunk noise - soft atmospheric chroma with black manga line authority - machine-readable labels balanced by human-scale breathing room - lonely but polished workstation calm ### Anti-Values - neon arcade cyberpunk saturation - busy dashboard density that fills every panel - rounded playful SaaS softness - photo-real chrome or heavy 3D depth - generic anime decoration without functional UI structure ### Visual Character - Pages use an off-white field with huge asymmetric margins and two or three floating terminal windows positioned as composition frames. - Panels are near-white translucent glass rectangles with squared corners, 1px ink borders, lavender-cyan washes, and hard black title bars. - Manga linework is built from thin black rules, silhouette cutouts, contour annotations, and cropped title-card image windows rather than illustration overload. - Terminal metadata uses monospace small caps, bracketed timestamps, file paths, cursor blocks, and optical tab stops aligned along thin divider rules. - Sparse cyan, fog lavender, and tiny green-magenta cursor glints appear only as semantic accents on an otherwise black-and-white interface. ## Tokens ### Borders - **Accent Width**: 2px - **Character**: ink-black terminal hairlines, double-rule split panes, and squared annotation brackets - **Default Width**: 1px - **Style**: solid ### Colors | Name | Value | |------|-------| | accent | `#BFF6FF` | | background | `#FCFCFA` | | border | `#111318` | | error | `#C2556B` | | info | `#7ABFE8` | | muted | `#6E7480` | | primary | `#0B0D12` | | secondary | `#DCD6FF` | | success | `#31D48A` | | surface | `#F7F8FF` | | text | `#0B0D12` | | warning | `#C7A64B` | ### Motion - **Duration**: 180ms - **Easing**: cubic-bezier(0.2, 0.0, 0.0, 1) - **Philosophy**: restrained boot-sequence flicker and cursor pulses; # Vapor Terminal OVA Console
## Overview
A clean existential interface language for quiet network-dawn products, merging white manga negative space, translucent command-line panes, and soft lavender-cyan OVA atmosphere into polished systems that feel monitored but humane.
### Values
- white space as emotional pressure
- terminal structure over decorative cyberpunk noise
- soft atmospheric chroma with black manga line authority
- machine-readable labels balanced by human-scale breathing room
- lonely but polished workstation calm
### Anti-Values
- neon arcade cyberpunk saturation
- busy dashboard density that fills every panel
- rounded playful SaaS softness
- photo-real chrome or heavy 3D depth
- generic anime decoration without functional UI structure
### Visual Character
- Pages use an off-white field with huge asymmetric margins and two or three floating terminal windows positioned as composition frames.
- Panels are near-white translucent glass rectangles with squared corners, 1px ink borders, lavender-cyan washes, and hard black title bars.
- Manga linework is built from thin black rules, silhouette cutouts, contour annotations, and cropped title-card image windows rather than illustration overload.
- Terminal metadata uses monospace small caps, bracketed timestamps, file paths, cursor blocks, and optical tab stops aligned along thin divider rules.
- Sparse cyan, fog lavender, and tiny green-magenta cursor glints appear only as semantic accents on an otherwise black-and-white interface.
## Colors

## Components
### Composition
Compose like an OVA title card crossed with a console layout: broad white voids, offset floating panes, one cropped figure or landscape frame, and thin surveillance overlays.
### Density
Low density overall with compact data islands; every technical cluster must be surrounded by calm negative space.
### Hierarchy
Use compressed sans headings for episode-card statements, monospace for operational truth, and quiet sans body copy inside measured terminal panes.
### Signature Patterns
- Floating .terminal panes use a black 20px title strip, three square status LEDs, and translucent lavender-cyan background blur.
- Annotation brackets are drawn with absolutely positioned corner rules that frame manga crops and selected interface states.
- Boot-log gutters repeat tiny monospace timestamps vertically at low opacity across otherwise empty white margins.
- Cursor glints are 8px rectangular blocks in terminal green or magenta, placed beside commands and status labels rather than as broad color fills.
- Split panes use double 1px black rules with pale cyan selection bands to make code windows become the page grid.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/vapor-terminal-ova-console/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Keep most surfaces white or near-white and let black rules define the system.
- Do Use lavender and cyan as atmosphere behind glass, not as loud brand blocks.
- Do Align labels, timestamps, and file paths to optical monospace tab stops.
- Do Crop manga-like linework asymmetrically so it feels like an OVA title-card fragment.
- Do Keep display headlines compressed, uppercase, and tightly tracked so they read like OVA title cards.
- Do Use double black rules and cyan selection bands to turn data panes into the layout grid.
- Don't Do not use neon gradients, dense holographic clutter, or gamer cyberpunk glow.
- Don't Do not round terminal panes into friendly cards; keep squared hardware edges.
- Don't Do not fill empty margins with decorative icons; absence is part of the surveillance mood.
- Don't Do not let anime references become character art wallpaper without interface function.
- Don't Do not mix soft rounded radii into panes; square hardware geometry is the core shape language.
- Don't Do not use equal-card catalog sections; show a plausible console scene with one dominant manga crop.

- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox

## Visual character to preserve
- Pages use an off-white field with huge asymmetric margins and two or three floating terminal windows positioned as composition frames.
- Panels are near-white translucent glass rectangles with squared corners, 1px ink borders, lavender-cyan washes, and hard black title bars.
- Manga linework is built from thin black rules, silhouette cutouts, contour annotations, and cropped title-card image windows rather than illustration overload.
- Terminal metadata uses monospace small caps, bracketed timestamps, file paths, cursor blocks, and optical tab stops aligned along thin divider rules.
- Sparse cyan, fog lavender, and tiny green-magenta cursor glints appear only as semantic accents on an otherwise black-and-white interface.
## ShadSync visual profile

## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/vapor-terminal-ova-console/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Keep most surfaces white or near-white and let black rules define the system.; Use lavender and cyan as atmosphere behind glass, not as loud brand blocks.; Align labels, timestamps, and file paths to optical monospace tab stops.; Crop manga-like linework asymmetrically so it feels like an OVA title-card fragment.; Keep display headlines compressed, uppercase, and tightly tracked so they read like OVA title cards.; Use double black rules and cyan selection bands to turn data panes into the layout grid.
- Do not: Do not use neon gradients, dense holographic clutter, or gamer cyberpunk glow.; Do not round terminal panes into friendly cards; keep squared hardware edges.; Do not fill empty margins with decorative icons; absence is part of the surveillance mood.; Do not let anime references become character art wallpaper without interface function.; Do not mix soft rounded radii into panes; square hardware geometry is the core shape language.; Do not use equal-card catalog sections; show a plausible console scene with one dominant manga crop.
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
