It uses mostly white and barely tinted surfaces, then reserves lychee pink and pool blue for priority cues, selected controls, and small moments of delight. The language treats translucency as a hierarchy tool rather than decoration: frosted panels, liquid highlights, and pale surface tints create depth while keeping text high contrast and decisions calm.
values

composition
Build screens around one dominant translucent workspace, not equal cards. Leave a large quiet white area on at least one side, place supporting modules as smaller offset lozenges, and let pale background washes imply zones. Use an asymmetric split at desktop, stacked priority at tablet, and a single-column story at mobile. Never rely on hard dividers when spacing and tint can group the content.
density
Overall density is low and breathable, but each screen needs one dense operational pocket such as a compact tray, route list, or status stack. Use 4 to 8px gaps inside small clusters and 64 to 96px separations between conceptual areas.
hierarchy
Use a three-voice type hierarchy: Fraunces display headlines with -0.04em tracking and soft optical weight, Nunito Sans body copy at 16px with -0.02em tracking, and Martian Mono labels for tiny timestamps and quantities. Primary actions get pool blue outlines or fills; care or warmth cues get lychee pink chips. Text remains dark on opaque reading planes even inside glass panels.
signature patterns
Dew-drop selection blob: an active pill contains a small translucent circular highlight offset to the upper right with pool-blue edge tint.Milk-glass reading shelf: translucent outer cards include a solid white inner shelf for copy-heavy rows to preserve contrast under blur.Tint lozenge zoning: blush and aqua rounded background capsules sit behind sections instead of using gray dividers or colored cards.Candy-shell border stack: components combine a 1px low-opacity seam, inset white highlight, and restrained soft shadow for tactile depth.Sparse flavor chips: lychee and pool accents appear as miniature labels, rails, and badges with large white space around them.

mobile 0-639px, tablet 640-1023px, desktop 1024px and above

density

Breathable by default with one compact pocket per view; the language depends on contrast between 4px micro-gaps and 96px quiet fields.

grid
Desktop uses a 12-column max-width 1180px grid with 24px gutters and an asymmetric 7/5 split; tablet collapses to 6 columns; mobile uses one column with 24px edge padding.
responsive
At tablet sizes, supporting lozenges move below the dominant workspace while maintaining offset overlap; at mobile, decorative washes flatten and text shelves become full-width cards.
whitespace
White space is an active material: keep at least one unfilled field near the main panel, separate sections by 64px or more, and avoid filling corners with decoration.
guidance
do
  • Use a white or milk-neutral canvas and let soft spacing do more work than boxes.
  • Reserve lychee pink for caring, warm, or completion cues and pool blue for current location, focus, or navigation.
  • Place long copy and important numbers on opaque white shelves even when the parent card is frosted glass.
  • Use 24px, 32px, and full-pill radii consistently; the softness should feel systematic rather than randomly bubbly.
  • Keep borders near invisible at roughly 6 to 10 percent opacity and strengthen only the active rail.
  • Create at least one asymmetric composition break with an oversized quiet field or offset floating tray.
  • Check contrast on every translucent panel and increase shelf opacity before increasing text weight.
avoid
  • Do not use rainbow gradients, saturated candy stripes, neon glows, or more than two accent hues.
  • Do not place paragraph text directly on busy blur, imagery, or overlapping tinted shapes.
  • Do not add mascots, emoji, sticker clusters, toy icons, bubble alphabets, or childish kawaii clutter.
  • Do not create three equal cards in a row; one module must be dominant or the layout must be asymmetric.
  • Do not use heavy gray borders, generic SaaS shadows, or default form controls.
  • Do not fill every white area with decoration; the blank field is part of the language.
  • Do not animate with looping shimmer, jelly bounce, or syrup-like motion that undermines calm readability.

# Dew Candy Minimalism

## Philosophy

Dew Candy Minimalism is an airy, readable white-space interface language that borrows the softness of milk glass and fruit candy without becoming childish.

### Values

- White space carries the primary hierarchy; color appears only where it clarifies state, priority, or a selected path.
- Translucent candy surfaces must remain legible, with blur isolated behind panels and solid inner reading planes for text-heavy content.
- Youthful softness comes from rounded geometry, pill controls, and dew-like highlights, not from mascots, stickers, or rainbow novelty.

- The interface should feel fresh, hydrated, and quiet, with enough contrast to operate as a serious product.

### Anti-Values

- Rainbow gradients, neon candy colors, or saturated multi-hue palettes that turn the system into toy packaging.
- Glassmorphism used indiscriminately behind paragraphs, causing low contrast, noisy overlaps, or unreadable blur.
- Kawaii clutter such as emoji confetti, mascot faces, sticker piles, novelty icons, or childish bubble lettering.
- Generic SaaS card grids with identical boxes and medium spacing everywhere.

### Visual Character

- A white canvas uses oversized asymmetric empty zones, with content gathered into one dominant milk-glass panel and smaller offset tint chips.
- Cards use rgba white fills, backdrop-filter blur, inset white highlights, and 8 percent borders while text sits on nontransparent reading layers.
- Lychee pink and pool blue appear as tiny pill tabs, active rails, and one liquid selection blob rather than full-area gradients.
- Controls share 24px rounded corners or full pills, using soft inner shadows and hairline borders to suggest candy shells without toy gloss.
- Section dividers are replaced by pale aqua or blush surface washes clipped into rounded lozenges that float behind content.

The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.

Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.

## Do's and Don'ts

- Do Use a white or milk-neutral canvas and let soft spacing do more work than boxes.
- Do Reserve lychee pink for caring, warm, or completion cues and pool blue for current location, focus, or navigation.
- Do Place long copy and important numbers on opaque white shelves even when the parent card is frosted glass.
- Do Use 24px, 32px, and full-pill radii consistently; the softness should feel systematic rather than randomly bubbly.
- Do Keep borders near invisible at roughly 6 to 10 percent opacity and strengthen only the active rail.
- Do Create at least one asymmetric composition break with an oversized quiet field or offset floating tray.
- Do Check contrast on every translucent panel and increase shelf opacity before increasing text weight.
- Don't Do not use rainbow gradients, saturated candy stripes, neon glows, or more than two accent hues.
- Don't Do not place paragraph text directly on busy blur, imagery, or overlapping tinted shapes.
- Don't Do not add mascots, emoji, sticker clusters, toy icons, bubble alphabets, or childish kawaii clutter.
- Don't Do not create three equal cards in a row; one module must be dominant or the layout must be asymmetric.
- Don't Do not use heavy gray borders, generic SaaS shadows, or default form controls.
- Don't Do not fill every white area with decoration; the blank field is part of the language.
- Don't Do not animate with looping shimmer, jelly bounce, or syrup-like motion that undermines calm readability.

### Accessibility

Maintain WCAG AA contrast for body text, keep blur decorative instead of structural for reading, provide visible focus rings in pool blue, and avoid communicating state by color alone.

### Usage Context

Best for wellness utilities, gentle scheduling, taste curation, learning companions, and consumer productivity where calm delight and immediate legibility both matter.

## Intent

Dew Candy Minimalism is an airy, readable white-space interface language that borrows the softness of milk glass and fruit candy without becoming childish.

## Required primitives

- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table

Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve

- A white canvas uses oversized asymmetric empty zones, with content gathered into one dominant milk-glass panel and smaller offset tint chips.
- Cards use rgba white fills, backdrop-filter blur, inset white highlights, and 8 percent borders while text sits on nontransparent reading layers.
- Lychee pink and pool blue appear as tiny pill tabs, active rails, and one liquid selection blob rather than full-area gradients.
- Controls share 24px rounded corners or full pills, using soft inner shadows and hairline borders to suggest candy shells without toy gloss.
- Section dividers are replaced by pale aqua or blush surface washes clipped into rounded lozenges that float behind content.

}

## Signature component recipes

### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.

### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.

### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.

### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.

### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.

## Preview shots

- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.

## Implementation contract

- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/dew-candy-minimalism/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Use a white or milk-neutral canvas and let soft spacing do more work than boxes.; Reserve lychee pink for caring, warm, or completion cues and pool blue for current location, focus, or navigation.; Place long copy and important numbers on opaque white shelves even when the parent card is frosted glass.; Use 24px, 32px, and full-pill radii consistently; the softness should feel systematic rather than randomly bubbly.; Keep borders near invisible at roughly 6 to 10 percent opacity and strengthen only the active rail.; Create at least one asymmetric composition break with an oversized quiet field or offset floating tray.; Check contrast on every translucent panel and increase shelf opacity before increasing text weight.
- Do not: Do not use rainbow gradients, saturated candy stripes, neon glows, or more than two accent hues.; Do not place paragraph text directly on busy blur, imagery, or overlapping tinted shapes.; Do not add mascots, emoji, sticker clusters, toy icons, bubble alphabets, or childish kawaii clutter.; Do not create three equal cards in a row; one module must be dominant or the layout must be asymmetric.; Do not use heavy gray borders, generic SaaS shadows, or default form controls.; Do not fill every white area with decoration; the blank field is part of the language.; Do not animate with looping shimmer, jelly bounce, or syrup-like motion that undermines calm readability.

## Copy-paste component example

This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
