A portable design language for agents: download the markdown first, then inspect the preview, tokens, and rules as needed.
Portable DESIGN.md source of truth for most agents and apps.
A routed instrument panel: a left contour rail carries the single continuous hairline spine, content sits to its right in a tight asymmetric modular grid. Dense and live, not sparse. Never nested cards, never a boxed nav.
Lead with uppercase tracked Space Grotesk, then Inter body, then IBM Plex Mono metadata. Hierarchy from weight, tracking and the routed structure, then glow emphasis, before colour contrast.
Medium-high. Many live modules, telemetry rows and readouts, kept legible by dark breathing space and the single organising line.
The routed contour: one continuous 1px hairline threads the whole page and loops out into node markers; where it passes a live region, colour bleeds off the line as a feathered diffusion glow into the dark ground (never a fill, never a glass panel). The contour and blooms recolour from the accent role vars on palette swap.
Desktop: an 84px left contour rail + a fluid content column on a tight modular grid (cards span 1-2 of 3). Tablet keeps the rail and collapses to two columns; mobile drops the rail to a single flowing stack.
Structural dark breathing space: 64-96px section rhythm on desktop, 48-64px tablet, 32-48px mobile. Negative space is the dark itself.
medium-high
Renders from ~390px mobile to 2560px+ ultra-wide; single column on mobile with the rail hidden, capped and centred contained content on ultra-wide, only the full-bleed hero spans 100vw.
bloomline
Subjects traced with one confident continuous hairline ink contour whose body dissolves into feathered translucent woad-blue and glacial-cyan dye blooms that glow OUT of a deep inkstone-indigo dark like phosphorescence in night-water, with a single warm coral thread of pigment and tiny luminous gradient dots and floating arc marks scattered sparsely. High-key glow against darkness, not milky white.
One full-bleed landing hero in the Bloomline technique applied over a deep dark night-water field (a dye plume / diver dispersing). Feature, illustration, chart and signature slots reuse the single-stroke hairline + bleed-off-the-line bloom treatment as inline SVG over the dark ground.

## Overview
A single confident line drawn in the dark that pulls colour out of the ground like dye released into still night-water. Structure is the line; colour is what escapes it. A calm-but-alert instrument language for things you watch in motion, luminous against a deep inkstone-indigo dark.
### Values
- the line as structure
- colour that bleeds, never fills
- luminous glow against darkness
- dense data kept calm
- one continuous routed contour
### Anti-Values
- near-white milky fields
- floating glass panels over washes
- elegant literary serif headlines
- sparse gallery margins as the only idea
- borders and boxed chrome

## Components
### Composition
A routed instrument panel: a left contour rail carries the single continuous hairline spine, content sits to its right in a tight asymmetric modular grid. Dense and live, not sparse. Never nested cards, never a boxed nav.
### Hierarchy
Lead with uppercase tracked Space Grotesk, then Inter body, then IBM Plex Mono metadata. Hierarchy from weight, tracking and the routed structure, then glow emphasis, before colour contrast.
### Density
Medium-high. Many live modules, telemetry rows and readouts, kept legible by dark breathing space and the single organising line.
### Signature
The routed contour: one continuous 1px hairline threads the whole page and loops out into node markers; where it passes a live region, colour bleeds off the line as a feathered diffusion glow into the dark ground (never a fill, never a glass panel). The contour and blooms recolour from the accent role vars on palette swap.
## shadcn/ui Usage
When the target app uses shadcn/ui, copy DESIGN.md with shadcn instead of the plain DESIGN.md. It contains the same Katagami design-language source plus the shadcn/ui primitives, imports, theme variables, component recipes, and preview-shot guidance.
DESIGN.md with shadcn: `/language/en-019efa5d-c3bf-7010-a4f2-bfa9beaa0387/DESIGN.with-shadcn.md`.
The shadcn page also exposes optional machine-readable files for automation, but the human-facing handoff is DESIGN.md with shadcn.
Install recommended primitives with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.
Use these primitives in shadcn apps:
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Implementation rule for agents: import shadcn primitives from `@/components/ui/*`, apply the generated CSS variables first, then compose the language-specific recipes from the companion MD. Katagami remains the source of truth; shadcn names are the implementation surface.
## Do's and Don'ts
- Do Let one continuous routed hairline carry the structure of the page
- Do Treat colour as dye that bleeds off the line as glow, never a solid fill
- Do Reserve the warm coral thread for the single thing that needs attention
- Do Separate with depth of inkstone tone and the contour, never with borders
- Do Pair Space Grotesk display with Inter body and IBM Plex Mono metadata
- Don't Drop back to a near-white milky field — the ground is deep inkstone indigo
- Don't Float translucent glass panels over a pale wash
- Don't Use an elegant literary serif for headlines
- Don't Put an accent edge on a card or box the navigation into a pill bar
- Don't Let the warm coral become visually primary
### Accessibility
Body text 17px+, table rows 14.5px+. #EAF0FF on #0A0E1F exceeds 4.5:1. Emphasis never relies on colour alone (glow pairs with weight, shape and a word). Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion; settled state visible with no JS. Form controls fully styled with visible luminous focus rings.
## Imagery Direction
### Pairs With
bloomline
### Summary
Subjects traced with one confident continuous hairline ink contour whose body dissolves into feathered translucent woad-blue and glacial-cyan dye blooms that glow OUT of a deep inkstone-indigo dark like phosphorescence in night-water, with a single warm coral thread of pigment and tiny luminous gradient dots and floating arc marks scattered sparsely. High-key glow against darkness, not milky white.
### Subjects
- a diver or swimmer descending through dark water
- dye and pigment plumes dispersing
- currents and eddies in deep water
- abstract single-line gestures dissolving into bloom
### Usage
One full-bleed landing hero in the Bloomline technique applied over a deep dark night-water field (a dye plume / diver dispersing). Feature, illustration, chart and signature slots reuse the single-stroke hairline + bleed-off-the-line bloom treatment as inline SVG over the dark ground.

# Woad shadcn/ui Components
Artifact: `component-recipes-v1`
Author: `katagami-ui-projection`
Language ID: `en-019efa5d-c3bf-7010-a4f2-bfa9beaa0387`
Slug: `woad`
## Intent
A single confident line drawn in the dark that pulls colour out of the ground like dye released into still night-water. Structure is the line; colour is what escapes it. A calm-but-alert instrument language for things you watch in motion, luminous against a deep inkstone-indigo dark.
## Required primitives
- button
- card
- input
- textarea
- select
- dialog
- sheet
- tabs
- badge
- separator
- checkbox
- switch
- slider
- tooltip
- dropdown-menu
- table
Install with `npx shadcn@latest add button card input textarea select dialog sheet tabs badge separator checkbox switch slider tooltip dropdown-menu table`.

## Visual character to preserve
- Make the source language's structural identity visible in every component state.
## ShadSync visual profile
{
"family": "system",
"material": "flat",
"contour": "default",
"border": "solid",
"underlay": true,

"motion": "lift",
"density": "balanced",
"accents": [

"secondary",
"muted"
]
}
## Signature component recipes
### Button
Use `Button` for primary, secondary, outline, and ghost actions. Primary actions must expose the language's strongest contrast pair, while secondary and ghost actions should preserve the surface treatment instead of falling back to default neutral SaaS styling.
### Card
Use `Card`, `CardHeader`, `CardContent`, `CardFooter`, and `CardAction` as the main composition frame. Cards should demonstrate the language's surface, border, hierarchy, and density rules rather than appearing as generic rounded rectangles.
### Input and Textarea
Use `Input` and `Textarea` with visible focus rings, field labels, validation states, and the language's rhythm. Forms should show real product content, not placeholder-only controls.
### Select, Tabs, and Table
Use `Select`, `Tabs`, and `Table` to prove navigation, filtering, and dense data states. The table should show row rhythm, separators, hover/focus states, and an empty or status state when the language calls for it.
### Dialog and Sheet
Use `Dialog` for centered decisions and `Sheet` for contextual editing. Both should inherit the language's spacing, border, overlay, and motion rules.
## Preview shots
- `application-shell`: dashboard or workspace shell with navigation, cards, forms, and state badges.
- `detail-editor`: focused editing flow using input, textarea, select, switch/checkbox, dialog or sheet, and action buttons.
- `data-operations`: table-heavy operational view with tabs, dropdown menu affordances, badges, and destructive/empty states.
- Each preview shot must include a renderable `scene` payload with concrete headline, description, actions, and rows/fields/stats for the UI preview.
## Implementation contract
- Start from local `ui/src/components/ui` shadcn-style primitives; do not create a second component system.
- Apply `/katagami/shadcn/woad/registry-theme.json` variables, then use these recipes for composition and state design.
- Preserve Katagami token names as source metadata; shadcn semantic names are only the export surface.
- Do: Let one continuous routed hairline carry the structure of the page; Treat colour as dye that bleeds off the line as glow, never a solid fill; Reserve the warm coral thread for the single thing that needs attention; Separate with depth of inkstone tone and the contour, never with borders; Pair Space Grotesk display with Inter body and IBM Plex Mono metadata
- Do not: Drop back to a near-white milky field — the ground is deep inkstone indigo; Float translucent glass panels over a pale wash; Use an elegant literary serif for headlines; Put an accent edge on a card or box the navigation into a pill bar; Let the warm coral become visually primary
## Copy-paste component example
This generated starter proves the import shape. Production Katagami agents should replace it with a language-specific product composition.
```tsx
